Downtown Catonsville Mural Art Virtual Tour and Walking Tour
This grant-funded project had us creating both an interactive virtual tour and walking tour highlighting 18 public art murals around the Catonsville, MD downtown.
The virtual tour component features an aerial 3D view of the downtown area with hotspots that fly the user down to ground level next to the murals when clicked. Once on the ground, the user can view the mural in 360 space, click informational hotspots pointing out unique features of the art, view three virtual tour guide videos in 360 space, and click “learn more” to load an infopage with additional information on the art.
The walking tour is a mini-website built on the client’s existing website. The tour features walking directions to each art location, share’s the same additional “infopage” content as the virtual tour, and has super high-resolution 2-dimensional interactive images of each mural that allows the user to view, zoom, and scroll across each mural while clicking informational hotspots. The client will likely add QR code links on each mural piece to load the infopages of each art piece onto local visitors’ phones.
